FAQ
1. What is wealth management?
Wealth management is a coordinated approach to managing multiple areas of your financial life. It can bring together investment management, financial planning, retirement strategy and wealth preservation so decisions are made within the context of your broader goals rather than in isolation.
At Cornerstone Asset Management, wealth management is the overarching relationship. Financial planning is one component of that broader approach.
2. What is the difference between a financial advisor and a wealth manager?
“Financial advisor” is a broad term that can describe professionals providing many different types of financial services. The scope of those services can vary significantly.
Wealth management generally describes a more comprehensive approach in which investment management is coordinated with other financial considerations, such as planning for retirement, managing accumulated wealth and preparing for future financial decisions.
The important distinction isn't simply the title someone uses. Investors should understand the actual services being provided, how the professional is compensated and the type of relationship they are entering into. The SEC similarly recommends evaluating the services, fees and relationship rather than relying on professional titles alone.
3. Do you have flexible pricing?
Independence generally refers to an advisory practice that operates independently rather than as a proprietary branch of a large financial institution.
However, “independent” does not automatically mean fee-only, conflict-free or that the practice itself is a registered investment adviser. Investors should review the firm's disclosures and understand the entities through which advisory and brokerage services are provided.
4. Can financial planning be part of wealth management?
Yes. Financial planning can be an important component of a broader wealth-management relationship.
At Cornerstone, financial planning helps inform the larger wealth strategy rather than standing alone as the primary service. Investment management, retirement considerations and long-term financial objectives can then be considered together.
5. Who does Cornerstone Asset Management work with?
Cornerstone Asset Management works with individuals, families and business owners seeking personalized wealth management and long-term financial guidance.
The firm's approach is particularly suited to clients who want their investment decisions considered within the context of their broader financial picture rather than managed in isolation.
6. Does Cornerstone Asset Management serve clients in both Denver and Phoenix?
Yes. Cornerstone Asset Management is based in Greenwood Village in the Denver Tech Center and serves clients throughout the Denver metropolitan area, including Greenwood Village and Cherry Hills Village.
Cornerstone also serves clients in the Phoenix metropolitan area by appointment. Cornerstone does not maintain a physical Phoenix office.
